iPhone Applications
Filmcards has launched an amazing multimedia project reserved to the iPhone which consists of a numerous collection of tourist applications, each dedicated to a famous Italian or foreign tourist resort, with the characteristic of containing specific FILMS (lasting 30’ to 60’) subdivided into subjects. A free DEMO is already downloadable ( PREVIEWS).
In fact, every guide is divided into nine sections, accessible through an interactive “Compass”.
The sections, apart from particular localities, are :
- Watch the films – Direct access to the films contained in the application, subdivided into subjects lasting 30’ to 70’ (depending upon the title)
- Photographic gallery – Access to the menu of all the photos present, subdivided into subjects. Under each sub-topic you can find hundreds of photos.
- History – The written history of the city. With comments regarding the photos.
- Places and Monuments – Here we enter the urban material describing the monuments of the place. The single description is often correlated by a short film and pictures.
- Religious Places – Churches and places of worship, all described and illustrated with photos and films
- Other places of interest – Secondary places of interest yet not less fascinating than those of greater fame. As the other sections, they are always described and illustrated with photos and films.
- Traditions - Here we enter into the heart and soul of the place of interest: the holidays and celebrations, the festivals and even the recipes of the town, all thoroughly described.
- Eating and Lodging – The precious chapter concerning all of the useful information such as: list of hotels, restaurants and B&Bs; completed by photos (sometimes of an entire illustrated film) and links to the website and email addresses, very easily accessible.
- Information – The most important things to know about the site, those tips we usually only notice after having left the town…A sort of significant vade-mecum of tips and suggestions.
Localization: All of the places, monuments, churches, hotels, restaurants etc…will immediately be localized on a map ( also via satellite) along with simple itineraries in order to reach the place of interest easily and comfortably.
AUDIOGUIDE. For some guides (dedicated to historical and archaeological sites such as Pompeii or ancient Rome) there will be an application to use as a real audio guide, the equivalent of those rented out from the shop (which are usually expensive and require advanced payment!). You can listen to the guide with normal headphones or using a LOUDSPEAKER ( so that the same guide can be listened to by more than one person, avoiding a second rental).
Also, faithful animated 3D reconstructions are provided, to rediscover the original archaeological finds exactly as it were once upon a time.
Right now the applications are in Italian and English but the next edition is expected to be in all of the major languages. The suggested price, relatively moderate in order to facilitate the completion of the collection, is of € 4,99 and it will remain unvaried even in the case of more famous titles.
